The 'Chasmis' Tray

This piece was once a bare ugly tile, but it had potential, so I repurposed it and gave it a new life as a utilitarian piece of art- functional, versatile and durable enough to be used daily as a trivet/pot holder to rest hot dishes and mixing spoons on, or as a jewelry tray or trinket dish.
To create this one-of-a-kind piece, I did an acrylic pour on the tile and then applied two coats of resin to the surface and sides. The resin can withstand 135 degrees, making it an excellent piece for the kitchen, and also gives it a cool glass-like look.
This piece can also serve as an attractive table centerpiece to set your salt and pepper on, as a candle tray, thoughtful place to display your most treasured belongings, as a catchall tray for your keys and other everyday items on your coffee or entryway tables.
